Peanut Butter Puppy Dog Treats

Peanut Butter Puppy Dog Treats

Posted 2013-02-26 by Where I Holidayfollow
My dog goes crazy for the smell and taste of peanut butter. I recently saw some peanut butter flavoured dog treats in the pet store and thought it would be a perfect treat.

Until I read the ingredients. All 29 of them. While some may have been "healthy" vitamin supplements, it also contained preservatives and "fillers".

So I hopped in the kitchen and 4 simple ingredients later I have a tail wagging good treat that will have your dog begging for more.

Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour (or other flour if your dog is wheat sensitive)
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup hot water

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (350 F).

  • Combine the flour and oats in a large mixing bowl.

  • Mix the peanut butter and hot water until the peanut butter is completely melted.

  • Add the peanut butter mixture to the dry ingredients.

  • Stir until thoroughly combined. If your mixture is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it is too dry, add a little more water.

  • Roll spoonfuls of the dough into balls and place on a greased or lined baking tray.

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes. If your dog prefers a crunchy texture, bake for at least 25 minutes depending on your oven.

  • This mixture will make about 24 biscuits depending on size. Biscuits will last in an airtight container for about a week. Any extras can be frozen for up to 3 months.

If you want to cut out shapes for your best friend, add a little more flour to the dough and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes. Then roll out dough on a floured benchtop.

Package up these treats as a perfect puppy gift for anyone with furry friends!
