My dog goes crazy for the smell and taste of peanut butter. I recently saw some peanut butter flavoured dog treats in the pet store and thought it would be a perfect treat.

Until I read the ingredients. All 29 of them. While some may have been "healthy" vitamin supplements, it also contained preservatives and "fillers".

So I hopped in the kitchen and 4 simple ingredients later I have a tail wagging good treat that will have your dog begging for more.

Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour (or other flour if your dog is wheat sensitive)
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup hot water

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (350 F).

Combine the flour and oats in a large mixing bowl.

Mix the peanut butter and hot water until the peanut butter is completely melted.

Add the peanut butter mixture to the dry ingredients.

Stir until thoroughly combined. If your mixture is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it is too dry, add a little more water.

Roll spoonfuls of the dough into balls and place on a greased or lined baking tray.

Bake for 20-25 minutes. If your dog prefers a crunchy texture, bake for at least 25 minutes depending on your oven.

This mixture will make about 24 biscuits depending on size. Biscuits will last in an airtight container for about a week. Any extras can be frozen for up to 3 months.

If you want to cut out shapes for your best friend, add a little more flour to the dough and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes. Then roll out dough on a floured benchtop.

Package up these treats as a perfect puppy gift for anyone with furry friends!
