Well, the cooler weather is finally on the way and getting back into the kitchen to do some baking is a pleasure. Whilst we humans delight in goodies fresh from the oven, why should our four-legged family members miss out?

Daisy's watching those biscuits come out of the oven

In this household, our six month old pup, Daisy, gets to enjoy home cooking too. Her latest home-baked treat was a batch of Peanut Butter and Honey Bikkies. Here's the recipe for you to try:

2 cups plain flour
1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup hot water
1 egg - slightly beaten

Combine flour and baking powder in large bowl
In another bowl, mix the peanut butter with honey and hot water until smooth, then add egg
Add dry mixture in gradually, mixing well
If mixture is too dry, add a little more water
If too wet, add a little more flour

Roll dough out on floured bench - to about 1/4 inch thickness, then cut out using any shape of cookie cutter (of course bones look cute!)
Place on lined baking tray and cook at 180 degrees for approx 20 minutes or until lightly golden
Cool on wire rack and then say "SIT!"

83 tasty morsels for Daisy

Fortunately Daisy loves these bikkies because the recipe made 83 little star-shaped morsels! I divided them amongst several snaplock bags, put one in the pantry and the rest in the freezer. When the pantry looks bare, I can now take a bag out of the freezer to defrost.

She's got a smile on her dial!

Looks like Daisy should have a smile on her dial for some time to come!
