With temperatures in Perth reaching record highs in twenty years, we really need to keep an eye out for our furry friends.

Make sure you put all water and food bowls in a shaded, cool area. Ensure they have a fresh supply of water at all times. Adding some ice cubes to the water bowl is a great way of keeping the water cooler for longer.

Make sure your pet has an area to sleep which is out of the sun and cool. Pets love lying indoors on cold tiles during the hot months.

If you have a swimming pool, please make sure that your pet does not have free access to it or else make sure they are supervised at all times.

Keep your pet groomed, especially long haired pets who are prone to matted hair. Hair tends to get more tangled and matted during warmer months which tends to make pets warmer.

Avoid exercising your pet during the peak high temperature times in the day.

Never ever leave your pet in a car unsupervised for any length of time on a hot day.

Hopefully by following these tips, we can keep our pets safe right throughout the long, hot Summer months.
