I have had numerous setbacks when trying to rent (or buy a unit or townhouse) in Brisbane because I have dogs (two middle aged incredibly quiet and well behaved staffies). It seems to me that Brisbane is the most dog phobic place I have ever experienced in Australia which compared to the UK and Europe has ridiculous and draconian dog laws.
If anyone has any suggestions please pass them on.
I havent had any problems really, there's just a nasty expensive pet bond that goes with it!
When I was renting thirty five to forty years ago owning pets was never an issue when renting. In total we rented five houses and owned a dog and cat. I don't think real estate agents or the owners of the houses even asked if we had pets. These days the majority of people renting out houses state 'no pets' and that is a not negotiable.
